i am a hypocrite.

i am a hypocrite.

it’s honestly really hard to admit this,

but when i was younger,

i hated dad jokes.

they lacked cleverness, wit, and just sounded kinda silly.

like, did you hear the story of how the strawberry turned into a blueberry?

an attempted strawberry cake..

it was a bright, sunny day.

the strawberry was minding its own business,

when suddenly — a gang pulled up.

fists were thrown, pulps were beaten, and next thing you know…

the strawberry became a blueberry.

get it?? cause, like, the bruises on the strawberry turned it from red to blue.

and uhhh…

the fruit blueberry has the word blue at the beginning,

and strawberry ends with berry,

so if a strawberry turns blue, it’s a blue… berry…

and if you put the two words together… it’s… blueberry.

…..

i am so sorry.

here’s what a few of you said about a small win you’ve had recently that made you feel proud:

I passed my theory evaluation for my driving!! - Jolz

I braided cornrows on my hair (myself) P.S. I have 4c hair 🤭 - Mirabel

I started skateboarding - n/a

i asked the cafe worker what's his favorite drink is! i always convinced myself i have a really bad social anxiety so that was definitely outside of my comfort zone :) - ivy

I’ve always been kind of bad with lab work and it has been something that stresses me out a lot during my degree. but during my internship this year, after the first few attempts, I’ve actually managed to carry out the work and there’s a lot less anxiety for me when entering a lab now :) - ea

finally being able to do some schoolwork i've been putting off for ages - christine

it would definitely be my step count lol. usually it would be about 1K steps because i am either too lazy to workout or im stuck marinating in my studies. luckily, i had the chance to visit japan for a month and the day after i arrived i got 22,164 steps in 11 hours of walking. it’s definitely a start of my painful but rewarding journey across japan (+3 days of seoul) :’D - trinity

i made it through the all the field surveys in forests and hilly terrains of the first half of my summer internship 🥳 note i am very unathletic and not a very big fan of hiking - mika

me and a friend once did this thing where we’d text each other our little wins at the end of each day. it helped us stay accountable and reminded us we were actually doing stuff. honestly, even just writing them down made it a lot easier already to appreciate the effort we were putting in and build momentum toward our goals.

for next week’s question:

what’s a moment from this past week that’s been stuck on your mind?

me personally, i accidentally said “you too” after an uber eats driver told me to enjoy my food 💀.

crazy aura loss.

“what’s the lore behind everyone calling you tulip?” – aj

over a year ago, i posted a video telling this story.

back in elementary school, people gave me all sorts of nicknames —

tulip, tootsie roll, coolio, tutu, tulinho, tools…

and of course, you all took it upon yourselves to start calling me tulip, despite my very clear objections.

but it’s somehow stuck ever since and it’s already been well over a year.

honestly, i never thought it would get this big or last this long.

still amazes me to this day

takeaways:

  • i am tulio

  • name is tulio

  • tulio = name

“how do u feel being a tulip? do u feel honored?” – amina

hey amina,

i think there’s been a misunderstanding!!

i am human!!

who said i’m not human!!

wait what!!

no i am!!

who said that!!
